Household Preparedness Guide

Start with the essentials

You do not need to prepare for everything at once. A sensible household backup starts with the things you would miss first during an interruption: food, safe water, light and a way to keep important small devices powered.

1. Food

Keep a practical reserve of foods your household will actually eat. Check best-before dates, storage instructions and allergen information, and rotate items into normal use rather than forgetting about them.

2. Water

Think about both stored drinking water and a suitable filtration option. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for any filter or treatment product and understand what it is designed to remove.

3. Lighting

Rechargeable lanterns and work lights are useful during power cuts. Keep them charged and somewhere easy to reach.

4. Backup power

Choose portable power according to the equipment you actually need to run. Check the power station’s rated output, capacity and the requirements of each device before connecting it.

Build gradually

Start small, learn what works for your household and add to it over time. PrepGuard’s approach is simple: prepared, not paranoid.
